Jenny has experience teaching piano lessons to all ages, from young children to adults. She loves the playfulness of early piano lessons, incorporating play and movement and games into the lessons, and loves starting beginners with great technique. She loves helping her students learn to play with musical expression and beauty, and really enjoys helping her more advanced students hone their skills and musical voice.
Jenny is skilled at creating well-rounded musicians. Students in her studio will be taught to read and perform music, and they will learn good technical skills with a musical purpose and goal in mind. Each student will be taught practical music theory and chords, allowing them the confidence and skills needed to harmonize melodies, arrange, improvise, and create at the piano. Sight reading is another major focus in the studio. Students who sight read regularly gain the skills needed to sit down and play a piece they have never played before!
Though traditional private lessons make up the foundation of the piano studio, Jenny is excited to begin offering weekly group lessons for beginners. There are so many benefits to learning in a group, such as performance and ensemble experience, improved fluency in sight reading and rhythm, motivation to practice because students will be playing for peers weekly, and the opportunity to learn in a more social setting in what usually can be a solitary activity.
