Jenny has experience teaching all ages, from young children to adults. She loves the playfulness of early piano lessons, incorporating play and movement and games into the lessons, and loves starting beginners with great technique. She loves helping her students learn to play with musical expression and beauty, and really enjoys helping her more advanced students hone their skills and musical voice.
Do you offer free trial lessons?
I do not offer free lessons. I do schedule a meet and greet with prospective students & their parents to see if we are a good fit!
Do you do makeup lessons?
Short answer – no. Your tuition pays for your weekly lesson time slot, whether or not you come. Teacher flex weeks are already figured into the tuition amount to account for days I may need to cancel.
What does tuition include?
Tuition includes your weekly lesson time slot, studio supplies and materials, teacher prep time outside of lessons and all piano books and materials. Taken into account in the cost of tuition are teacher education, experience, degrees and certifications, annual continuing education and music teacher association fees. Contact me for current tuition rates.
How many lessons will I receive each year?
Your tuition includes 28 private lessons, 2 group classes and 2 recitals throughout the school year. During the summer months, students are required to pay for at least four lessons; this reserves their spot in the studio for the upcoming fall.
Do we need to own a piano?
Yes! Students must have access to a well-maintained piano to practice on DAILY. Though an acoustic piano is preferred, a good digital piano with 88 weighted keys will do.
How much will we need to practice?
Students are expected to practice diligently and consistently, a minimum of 5 days per week. Parents, please help your child prioritize and find a regular time to practice each day. This helps daily practice become a habit.
Quality practice is more important than quantity. However, please plan on a minimum of 30 minutes per day for beginners, 45 minutes per day for ages 11+ or intermediate students, and 60 to 90 minutes for late intermediate to advanced students.
